Verona,
the city of art, shows and business, where ancient
Rome mixes with beautiful and impressive medieval
palaces. There are a few absolute essentials
that are not to missed when visiting Verona and they
are all on the doorstep of the four
star Grand Hotel Verona.
The arena is one of the oldest and
best preserved ampitheatres in Italy today dating back
to the first century BC. It is the main attraction that
draws visitors all year round and over the summer months
you can watch a ballet or an opera there. The staff
at the Grand Hotel Verona
will be only too happy to help you book tickets.
The Piazza Erbe is built on an old
Roman forum and is today the venue of the city’s
old herb market. As you wander around the market and
take in its wonderful delights be sure to see the Palazzo
Maffei, Casa dei Mercanti, Palazzo della Ragione
and the beautiful fountain in the middle
of the square.
The Cathedral, dating back to the
12th century, is in the centre of town and is the main
building of religious and historic importance. Juliet’s
house and the famous balcony
under which Romeo serenaded his love
to his sweet Juliet is also in the
centre.
The
Scaligeri Palace is an impressive and
imposing piece of architecture and well worth visiting.
It was the official residence of the Della Scala
family during the 13th and 14th centuries. A welcome
break from all the culture can be found in the Giardini
Giusti, fine Italian Renaissance gardens.
If the purpose of your stay is business
then the fiera with all its exhibitions
and conferences is also in close proximity to the Grand
hotel Verona.
What better way to explore these wonders than on foot
